The 2000 season was characterized by a continuous evolution of the equipment. As in the previous year, the first part of the season until the first week of the Giro was faced with the 1999 graphics, supporting the model on the market. From the second week, the 2000 graphics made their debut with black bands between light blue and yellow, a color scheme that would be used for many years to come on the economy series. Bianchi definitively abandoned the Time fork in favor of their own Bianchi XL Carbon. Campagnolo surprised with the new 10-speed groupset, while Shimano would only arrive in 2005. New graphics for the saddle and the bottle cage, which saw the Elite Patao replace the Ciussi at the Giro. The new Continental sponsor for the tires replaced Vittoria. It is worth noting that during those years, Continental did not produce tubular tires, but only clinchers, so officially the most used rims were the Nucleon clinchers, unlike the Nucleon tubulars of the previous year. However, it was known that deviations were often granted in races to meet sponsor needs, so this remained more of an official aspect than a practical one. Columbus, for 2000 only, replaced Dedacciai; already by the end of 1999, frames without Dedacciai branding were seen, officially produced with Bianchi tubes.
